Ford gaf een tijdlang zijn sportieve modellen de naam Cosworth mee. Zo zitten vooral de Sierra en de Escort in ons collectief geheugen. Hier enkele foto's.

Ford used to give their powerful sportive cars the name Cosworth. We all remember the Sierra and Escort. Here some pictures.

Misschien wel de meest bekende Cosworth is deze Texaco van Eggenberger. In het Europees kampioenschap en het Wereldkampioenschap voor Toerenwagens waren ze duidelijk de snelste, maar moesten soms het onderspit delven tegen de BMW M3's omwille van de iets mindere betrouwbaarheid.

Frank Biela was één van de toonaangevende Ford piloten alvorens nog grotere successen te behalen als Audi fabriekspiloot.

Hier staat de Sierra van Thierry Tassin na zijn opgave tijdens de 24 uren van Spa.

Patrick Slaus probeerde de officiële Sierra's het vuur aan de schenen te leggen met deze Echo Cosworth.

In België stonden de Boule d'Or Sierra's van Semoulin aan de top van het groep N kampioenschap.

In Belgium the Boule d'Or Sierras of Semoulin dominated group N.

Hier tijdens de wedstrijd rond het Atomium in Brussel.

Luxemburger Romain Wolff bracht dit Royale Belge exemplaar aan de start.

Patrick Selleslagh bracht dit pracht exemplaar aan de start in de Belcar samen met Jan Pellecom.

In Belcar we saw this nice looking Cosworth of Patrick Selleslagh and Jan Pellecom.

De Cosworth motor werd een jaar later in de Mondeo kas gebouwd.

The Cosworth engine was placed into a Mondeo one year later.

In de Belcar zagen we ook deze mooie Carglass Escort Cosworth van Patrick de Schaetzen en Yves Semoulin.

In Belcar we also found this great looking Carglass Escort Cosworth driven by Patrick de Schaetzen and Yves Semoulin.

Claudia Hürtgen reed met deze Escort Cosworth in het Duitse groep N kampioenschap.

Ralf Kelleners reed een andere Escort in het ADAC GT kampioenschap.

Ralf Kelleners used this Escort in ADAC GT.

Ook Klaus Niedzwiedz kwam uit is dat kampioenschap.

De voorloper van de Sierra Cosworth en de Escort Cosworth was de Escort RS Turbo. Hier zien we Valentin Simons die Eric Van de Poele voorbij steekt in Ieper.

Olaf Manthey won ooit een groep 1 race met deze Ford Escort RS 2000 in Zolder. Later werd Manthey Mercedes en Porsche piloot/tuner.

De Mondeo diende ook als basis voor de Britse Eurocars. Een oer spectaculair kampioenschap!

The Mondeo was used as base for the Eurocar. This was a faboulous spectacular championship.

In de group C probeerde Ford het met deze C100. 

In Group C we saw this Ford C100.

Vorige foto was tijdens de 1000km van Spa waar de Ford wat te licht bevonden werd. In de DRM, Deutsche Rennsport Meisterschaft, kon de C100 wel aan de kop meedraaien.

Last picture was at Spa for the 1000km. This is at Zolder in a round for the Deutsche Rennsport Meisterschaft where it performed well.
