Over 3 weken is het weer zover. De Rolex 24 in Daytona. Wij gaan dagelijks van ter plaatse verslag uitbrengen. Om jullie reeds warm te maken hier enkele foto's van de Daytona Prototypes tijdens de voorbije 2 edities.
In 3 weeks time we will be in Daytona again for the Rolex 24. We will report everyday about the race. As a warming up we will show you some pictures of the Daytona Prototypes in the past 2 editions.
De Rolex 24 in Daytona is heel sfeervol. Zo is het reuzenrad steeds mooi verlicht en zorgt het vuurwerk voor een mooie extra in de nacht.
The atmosphere at The Rolex 24 at Daytona is always amazing. The large ferris wheel and the fireworks make it all very colorful.Â
Bij de start gaat het er steeds heftig aan toe. Hier duiken ze na de rechte lijn het infield in. Dit is één van de moeilijkste rempunten die je kan inbeelden. Van op de banking duiken ze het vlakke stuk op.
When the green flag drops the cars storm into the infield braking zone. It is a hard braking zone as the cars come from the high speed banked straight into the flat infield.
De ochtenduren zijn steeds heel mooi als de zon achter de tribune aan de superstrech opkomt.
Early in the morning when the sun comes up behind the superstretch grandstand it produces a yellow sky.Â

Brumos Porsche is een team dat een heel rijke geschiedenis heeft bij de Rolex 24. De Porsche dealer uit Jacksonville zet dit jaar een GT Porsche in.
Brumos Porsche has a long history at the Rolex 24. The Jacksonville Porsche dealer will enter a GT Porsche in this years race.Â
De nummers 58 en 59 zijn al jarenlang de vaste nummers van Brumos Porsche.

Chip Ganassi brengt ook steeds sterke formaties aan de start met rijders als Juan Pablo Montoya en Scott Pruett.

Net als de meeste top teams maakt ook Ganassi gebruik van het Riley chassis.

De reclame op de wagens wordt vaak in reflecterend materiaal aangebracht.Â

Vorig jaar werd er gestart in de regen.

Close racing is normaal tijdens de Grand Am races aangezien alle prototypes aan elkaar gewaagd zijn.
Close racing is common in Grand Am because all prototypes are very similar on speed.
Tijdens de Rolex 24 wordt het nooit helemaal donker op het circuit wat het voor de fans heel interessant maakt om de race te volgen.
During the Rolex 24 it is never completely dark. Thats what makes it is so easy for the fans to follow the race.Â
Level 5 Motorsports brengt ook weer 2 wagens aan de start.

De Rolex 24 zorgt voor spanning tot op het einde. Twee jaar geleden finishte 3 wagens binnen de 8 seconden van de winnaar terwijl vorig jaar deze Action Express Riley nooit een grote voorsprong bij mekaar kan rijden waardoor hij moest pushen tot aan de finish.
The Rolex 24 is usual a race with small differences. 2 years ago the 4 lead cars finished within 8 seconds. Last year The Action Express Riley had to push till the end to win the event.Â
Dit was hun laatste pitstop op een half uur van het einde.
This was their final stop.
