SKYLIMIT DRIFT CUP 2012 ROUND 1 : RACE WARS @ CIRCUIT ZOLDER2012-04-18

Race Wars @ Circuit Zolder is the biggest one day event at the race track. With about 20.000 spectators every year the track is overwhelmed by tuning and car fans. MSTC organizes a drift demo at the event every year, but this year Jan Wouters contacted us, Skylimit, to work out a drift competition. And it was awesome. We drifted in 2 classes, Pro and Amateur class. Here the report of the Amateur Class with great pictures by Patrick Visser!

Surprise winner today was Thos Theunissen. He bought the old Nissan of Regis Glorieux and did about 5 days of driving with it. At Race Wars he qualified third and won the final. 

He was very consistent and made no mistakes. Let\'s see if he can keep the lead in the championship next time.

Kevin Putseys already knew during this drift at what place he would finish... Second but during the qualification he scored a 19 on 20, what is very high for the amateur class! 

Gert Vandoorslaer got the third podium spot after a good first run but striggling in his second run.

After the qualifying run the drivers got together to listen to the results. On the bike we see Steve De Braekelaer who was 4th in qualifying and also 4th in the finals next to Ben Theunissen who was highest qualifier in his Audi but spun to a 5th place in the final.

Maarten Wellens competed his first drift cup and got a sixt place! Very good to start the season.

In 7th place we got Dennis Cox in his Toyota Starlet with this great livery!

Didier Franck could only manage 19th place. During his free runs he was one of the best... Pressure was sometimes to hard during the scored runs

Daniel Dejong also drove a Skyline R33 into 11th place.

Karen Vaes, one of the selected driftgirls, had a great run. Only a semi spin during her second run kept her out of the finals... She became 12th on 22 drifters in her first competition!

Emmanuel Kumps had one great run but 2 bad ones in qualifying. His car is an old race car which he transformed into a driftcar 

It looks great as a driftcar now!

Dieter Laenen also made to much mistakes in his qualifying runs

Willems in his BMW got a 10th place

While Kris Cox got a 9th place!
