SKYLIMIT DRIFTER KEVIN CORSIUS WINS PRO CLASS IN HIS FIRST BDC EVENT2012-08-15
When 2 of our top \"Skylimit Drift Cup\" drivers said to me they wanted to try out BDC, I was pleased, because I knew they would do well. In Belgium we can only drift on our wet paddock of Circuit Zolder. This means they are not used to the high speeds, but their car control is amazing!
Mark \"sweeps\" Buckle send me an e-mail to ask what the level of Kevin Corsius and Gert Hoekman was and if they would fit in BDC. Well because of their experience they should be semi pro\'s but their skills and talent made me believe they would be front runners in the Pro class.
While Kevin qualified his E36 3.2 BMW M3 on first place in Pro Class, Gert Hoekman did also very well with 4 th place in his Mazda RX7 with LS engine.
In his first battle Kevin was all over Jay White in his Nissan S14.
Gert Hoekman lost his first battle in Top 16... But he will be back!
In Top 8 Kevin beat Ben Moorley in his Ford Escort and went on to the semi finals.
In top 4 he went up against James Fuller. The pressure of Kevin was so big that James spun out.
Coming through the final corner up the hill Kevin knew he was in the final!
In the final he met Paul Cheshire and his Infinity G35 with over 200 extra horses under the hood than Kevins M3. While leading he could pull away with nice angle.
While chasing he stayed close and kept a great angle all the way!
So on his first UK trip to the BDC (British Drift Championship) Kevin was the winner in Pro class!
Here the Skylimit gang at Lydden Hill with from left to right : Gert Hoekman, Thijs Brusselman, Randy Congedo (wait till his new machine is ready!), Kevin Corsius, Michel Lubberts and the man who did everything behind the scenes André Corsius.
Kevin felt really welcome at the BDC event. The hospitality of organizers and competitors was really cool. He likes the track a lot. He did rock the track with his great entries, something he could practice a lot at the Skylimit driftschool. Kevin : \"When you can control a car on a wet surface in second gear at 70 km/h, it becomes easy to control a car in third gear at 110 km/h on a dry surface.\"
After his epic first BDC event Kevin is asked to join the Super Pro class guys to Silverstone... To be continued!
