SKYLIMIT DRIFT CUP CHAMPION KEVIN CORSIUS WENT TO GERMANY FOR THE IDS FINALS/THE EUROPEAN DRIFT CHAMPIONSHIP!2012-10-16
After winning his first Skylimit Drift Cup title in his third drift season, Kevin Corsius went a few times over the border to see what happens in drifting Europe. After 2 visits in UK (BDC) now it was time to see how things were in Germany! Enjoy this blog from hell, the green hell! The fantastic photos are made by Lisa Linke!
Kevin Corsius drives this BMW M3. His team is called No Smorking and his opponents in the Skylimit Drift Cup are his biggest fans!
Practice on friday started on a wet track. But luckily the track dried up in the afternoon.
The drying conditions were not that easy and resulted in a spin. IDS Champion Patrick Ritzmann could not avoid Kevin and this resulted in this bent fender.
But in drifting it is : no scratch, no fun!
His qualifying on Saturday was not perfect and resulted in a 15th place. After some drivers pulled out with car problems, Kevin was qualified in 13th place.
In his top 32 battle Kevin drove away from Stefan Pfister in great style! With smoke and angle he entered top 16
thanks to this win his fans had a reason to drink some gluhwein :-)
In Top 16 he had to battle the IDS Champion Patrick Ritzmann. Kevin did his best and made no mistake, only he was slow on his cheap tires...
The judges saw a mistake of Patrick in the second run and Kevin moved on to Top 8
His fans were more happy with this result than with the gluhwein.
Next up was Florian Oberwahrenbrock. After beating his team mate Mirek Duda last week in Zolder, Kevin also beat Florian and so he went on to TOP 4! Unexpected after his 15th place qualifying...
Now the fans became also very loud!
After losing to Alois Pamper in the semi final Kevin had to battle agains Philip Stegemann. And Kevin did beat the reigning European champion!
This resulted in the whole team and fans shouting on our favorite photographers commando : "JUHUUUUU"
The BMW Minibus brought everyone again to the paddock
We were all very proud to see Kevin on the podium together with Alois Pamper and Marcus Militzer!
Kevins pride was much bigger than his trophy!
The joined venture between Skylimit and No Smorking resulted in a great result! After years of judging, I like my role as coach a lot, so this might lead to bigger things in the future!
We ended our weekend with this photo! At least we keep drifting fun! juhuuuu
