BRCC RACE 1 : FIA GT BY SKYLIMIT YOKOHAMA RACE TEAM2013-04-23

First race of the BRCC Championship was held during the FIA GT weekend at Circuit Zolder. The Skylimit Yokohama Race team competed with 3 Porsches, 1 in the sprint and 2 in the endurance races. Here the report about the road to a 100% podium finish with photos by Lisa Linke.

Het eerste BRCC weekend werd verreden in het kader van de FIA GT races op Circuit Zolder. Het Skylimit Yokohama Race Team kwam aan de start met 3 Porsches. 1 voor de sprint races en 2 voor de endurance. Hier een verslag over de weg naar het podium met foto's van Lisa Linke!

Sarah Ganser drove the middle stint

Sarah Ganser reed de middelste stint.

The German girl just became 18 a few days before the race. She even hasn't got a drivers license... But with the support of Jean Schaap, she can already show her potential.

Het Duitse meisje werd net 18 in de week voor de race. Ze heeft zelfs nog geen rijbewijs... Maar dankzij de steun van Jean Schaap kan ze zich wel al tonen aan de buitenwereld.

The final stint was for MYR Watches driver Karen Vaes.

De finish werd gereden door MYR watches piloot Karen Vaes.

For Karen it was a big step as this was her first race ever...

Voor Karen was een een enorme stap want het was haar eerste wedstrijd ooit!

After the serious stuff there is always some time for some fun. We call it the skylimit spirit!

He puts the #69 on the second row at p4.

Hij zet de #69 op de tweede startrij, als vierde.

The ladies Porsche ends on p19 on the grid, 3rd in class.

De meisjes Porsche neemt plaats 19 in op de grid voor de endurance race.

Jo Lammens warmed up the car in qualifying.

And then Bart Van Haeren gets the pole in class with p14 overall... on 3 wheels!

Daarna knalt Bart Van Haeren de #73 Porsche naar de pole in de klasse op de 14de plaats algemeen, op 3 wielen.

During part 2 he fights and gets a second place! 

Tijdens deel 2 vecht hij zich naar voren en wordt 2de.

Jo Lammens took a rocket start to the lead and finished his 2 races 4th overall after he lost some grip in the end.

Jo Lammens nam een knalstart en pakte de kop. Maar door het verlies aan grip moest hij tevreden zijn met 2 4de plaatsen.

Jo and Philippe are happy with their podium finish. Kronos boss Marc Van Dalen stands behind them.

Because of a mistake in the BRCC sprint rules, The Mondron brothers took first place in GT Light although they did not finish 2 of the 4 sprint races... The BRCC organization will work on it so it will not happen again.

Door een foutje in het reglement wordt de Ginetta van de gebroeders Mondron als winnaars uitgeroepen in de GT Light terwijl ze 2 van de 4 races niet aan de finish stonden. De BRCC organisatie gaat er nu aan werken zodat dit zeker niet opnieuw kan voorvallen.

After the sprint race the endurance racers had some time to prepare the race or relax.

Jo Lammens took the start with #73. But even on 3 wheels he could not manage to keep the 997 Cup Porsche of Albert/Van Hove behind him.

Charlotte had to avoid a spinning Ginetta. Because of that she drove over the big curbs at the chicane. That broke the drive shafts. So she had to be pulled into the pits for a repair. After that she drove a fine opening stint.

Charlotte moest een spinnende Ginetta ontwijken. Hierdoor vloog ze over de hoge curbs aan de chicane. De cardan as brak af en ze moest in de pits getrokken worden voor een reparatie. Daarna kon ze haar stint vervolgen en die werkte ze dan ook mooi af.

The Porsche  was again in great shape thanks to the great mechanics of First motorsport.

De Porsche was opnieuw in top form na de tussenkomst van de geweldige First Motorsport mechaniekers. 

The ambiance was great in the skylimit lounge. It was really the place to be during the race!

De sfeer was geweldig in de Skylimit lounge. Het was werkelijk de beste plaats op het circuit om de race te volgen.

Bart Van Haeren drove a great tempo and finished 2nd in class and 13th overall

Bart Van Haeren reed een sterk tempo en werd tweede in de klasse, dertiende algemeen.

Ondertussen bracht Karen Vaes de #72 mooi aan de finish op een derde plaats in de klasse en 17de algemeen. 

Meanwhile Karen Vaes drove the #72 perfect to the finishline finishing third in class and 17th overall.

The cars still looked great after the race! Next race at Dijon in 3 weeks

De wagens zagen er als nieuw uit na de race. Op naar de volgende manche in Dijon over 3 weken.

A podium to be proud of! Our boys and girls performed great! 

Een podium om trots op te zijn. Onze mannen en meisjes deden het schitterend.

The biggest applause of the crowd came when our 3 girls went on the podium. Who would have thought they would al be able to drive 1'46" the first time out?

Het grootste applaus kwam er toen onze 3 meiden het podium op mochten. Wie had gedacht dat ze allemaal een 1'46" op de klokken konden zetten zo vroeg op het seizoen?
