SKYLIMIT YOKOHAMA RACE TEAM BRCC RACE 3 : SPA EURO RACE2013-06-11
De Spa Euro Race was de derde manche voor het BRCC kampioenschap. Opnieuw tekende het Skylimit Yokohama Race Team paraat met 2 Porsches 996 GT3 Cup in de Endurance race en met een Porsche 997 GT4 in de sprint races. Hier een reportage met foto's van Gregory Eyckmans.
The Spa Euro Race hosted the third round of the BRCC championship. The Skylimit Yokohama Race Team started with 2 Porsches 996 GT3 Cup in the Endurance Race and a Porsche 997 GT4 in the sprint races.
Terwijl de kwalificaties op een droge piste verreden werden, gingen de hemelsluizen open voor de start. Karen Vaes, die met de #72 ging starten, vroeg nog wat raad aan de ervaren Henk Haane. Henk kwam ons team vervoegen naast Bart Van Haeren.
While the qualifications were driven on a dry track, the rain hit Spa hard before the start of the endurance race. #73 starter Karen Vaes asked some advice from Henk Haane. This experienced driver joined the team next to Bart Van Haeren.
Bart nam een goede start in deze moeilijke omstandigheden en nestelde zich meteen in de top 15 van het klassement.
Bart started very well in these difficult circumstances and was immediately in the top 15.
Voor Karen, de MYRwatches pilote, was het de eerste keer in de regen, op regenbanden en zelfs de eerste race op Spa. Ze startte rustig maar kwam al snel dichter bij haar voorliggers.
For Karen it was the first time on rain tires, first time in the rain and the first time at Spa. So she took no risks in the start but soon found the grip.
Hier staat ze op het punt een Seat Supercopa in te halen en meteen daarna ging ze zelfs één van de Aston Martins voorbij!

De piste begon stilaan op te drogen

Onze eerste pitstops waren heel sterk. Bart prijkte na de wissel op slicks op een mooie 13de plaats

Karen kwam een rondje later binnen voor droog weer banden en reed in 16de stelling algemeen.
Karen came in one lap later for the dry weather tires and was 16th overall!
Na een uur nam Eureplan piloot Charlotte Maes het stuur over van Karen Vaes.
After one hour it was Charlotte Maes who took over the wheel of Karen Vaes.
Charlotte tastte in haar eerste ronden voorzichtig de grip af van de opdrogende piste en kon daarna haar persoonlijk snelste ronden ooit rijden op Spa Francorchamps.
Charlotte Maes concentrated in her first laps on the grip level of the drying track. But later in her stint she could drive her fastest laps ever at this great racetrack.
Ondertussen nam Henk Haane het stuur over van Bart Van Haeren. Henk kon meteen aanpikken bij het tempo van Bart en nestelde zich aan het randje van de top 10!
Meanwhile Henk Haane took over from Bart Van Haeren and continued the high tempo of the #73. He could position himself in the top 10 overall!
Laatste pitstop voor de meisjes als Charlotte Maes het stuur overgeeft aan Sarah Ganser onder toeziend oog van haar sponsor Jean Schaap.

Henk Haane klom nog op naar de 9de plaats algemeen, slechts 1 plaats achter de veel snellere 997 Porsche die ook in onze klasse rijdt.
Henk Haane climbed to the 9th place overall. Only 1 place behind the much faster 997 Porsche in our GT Challenger class.
Sarah Ganser reed tijdens haar stint heel sterke tijden! Ze klom tijdens haar stint niet alleen van de 18de naar de 15de plaats, ze deed dat zelfs met rondetijden waarbij veel mannen bleek zouden uitslaan! In haar 60ste ronde was Sarah de 10de snelste wagen op de piste, wat met deze wagen heel straf is!
Sarah did a fabulous stint. She did not only climb from 18th place to 15th overall, the laptimes she was driving would shock many men. In het 60th lap she drove the 10th fastest lap of all drivers! Sarah rocked at Spa Francorchamps!
De laatste meldingen op het pitboard waar de rijders konden zien hoe snel ze reden, maar vooral hoe lang het nog duurde tot aan de finish. Ook de pitwall crew heel hard bedankt!

Het podium was wederom een bekroning voor onze piloten en de sterke crew! Deze keer werden de jongens van First motorsport bijgestaan door de mannen van EMG motorsport.
The podium was again the fruitful result for our drivers. And we like to thanks the guys of First Motorsport for their assistance, this time supported by the EMG Motorsport guys.
Na de endurance race op zaterdag avond was het zondag middag de beurt aan de BRCC sprint. De temperaturen zakten van 25 graden op zaterdag naar 8 graden op zondag met een hele dreigende hemel. Jo Lammens maakt zich klaar om het eerste deel van de sprint tot zijn rekening te nemen.
After the endurance race on Saturday evening, Jo Lammens prepares himself for the first 2 segments of the BRCC sprint races on Sunday. The temperatures dropped from 25 degrees on Saturday to 8 degrees on Sunday and the clouds were very dark.
Met een knalstart klimt Jo op van plaats 12 naar plaats 4 in de lichte regen. Enkele schuivers rondom hem doen hem weer wat plaatsen verliezen.
With a rocket start Jo jumps from 12th place to the 4th place in the first lap. But some spins around him make him drop back some places.
Het wordt steeds natter en Jo Lammens neemt geen verdere risico's om de wagen in zo goed mogelijk staat door te geven aan team maat Philippe Huart, want aan het einde van de rit worden pas de volle punten uitgedeeld.
The track gets wetter every lap and Jo Lammens avoids any risk to bring the car home so Philippe Huart gets a car in good shape for the final part of the sprint races as the big points are only given at the end.

De regen valt nu met bakken uit de hemel en er moet overgegaan worden op regenbanden.
Heavy rain comes down now. So no other choice then to put on the rain tires.
De piste werd steeds natter met op sommige plaatsen aquaplaning tot gevolg.

De tweede plaats in GT Light kwam nog in zicht in de laatste ronden, maar het was het risico niet waard om alles te riskeren. Met een 5de plaats algemeen en 3de GT Light werd wederom een podium bereikt, wat van het weekend weer een 100% score maakt!
The second place in class came in to sight in the final laps but Philippe stayed 5th overall and 3rd in GT Light. So another weekend of 100% podium finishes was the result!
